It’s a Wonderful Life -
And it truly is indeed. Happy New Year!
I cannot believe it’s already 2020! I first started this draft when I was dreaming up my blog. It started something like “boy, am I excited about 2018!” Fast forward a few years later and my reflections on new year goals are thankfully the same.
Every year, we say the same thing about how fast time has flown. We “can’t believe it’s the holidays already!” But somehow 365 days have passed and here we are. Considering each year, has anyone else thought back to the 90’s classic and agreed with Forrest? “Life is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you’re going to get.”
These last eight years, I’ve been blessed to taste quite a few. Taking a bite out of life is exciting and scary at the same time. So many moments have been delicious and also quite compelling.
In 2012, I said, “See you later!” to Atlanta and took off to pursue my dream job at a winery. Though my former plans & past interviews were all focused on California, I found myself instead in Virginia. As much as I love DC, the state of Virginia was not on my travel plans, let alone thoughts to live there, but there I was ready for my next adventure.
My time with New Kent Winery is one I absolutely loved and you will certainly hear more about! The hard work and unique opportunities will be many I cherish.
It doesn’t feel like three years ago when I think back to NYD 2017 at our Lake Anna house. Rocking by the fire and floating on the kayak, it was a wonderful trip with friends. So many great adventures- Virginia is truly for bests(friends)! #vaforbests
As much as I adored my experiences in Virginia, it was sitting by that fire I made the decision it was time to move home. I will always love RVA and each community I worked in. There were so many adventures and many I’ll experience again!
My sampling in this life-size box of chocolate continues in Atl. There are times when I can’t believe my life is working out so positively and do my best to savor every moment. Then other times you try something and either swallow whole to get through it, put it back & hope someone else will enjoy, or completely spit it out. Either way, it’s up to you to decide if you need to walk away from the box of chocolaty life or keep diving in and trying more.
The transitional phases have been both challenging and rewarding. I will forever love Virginia and the amazing moments made. The people who crossed paths with me made a serious impact on life, and I cannot wait to get back to visit often. Virginia is a diverse state with so much to explore. RVA is always changing with its trendy vibes and artistic little/big town culture.
Now home in Atlanta, it still hasn’t quite sank in. Life is going so fast with so much to catch up on. I spent my first two years busy with work at a growing company in a completely new Industry and style of culture. I learned so much yet the world of wine keeps calling my name. In my dream home in the city, I’m excited to step out over the next couple of months to sip, savor & pour more favorites that we’ll share with you.
Starting the new decade, we also celebrated my little sister’s 30th birthday. It feels like mine was just the other day. Toasting to her with family and friends, my excitement grew to expand on this blog and my new & re-established hobby in food, wine, and beverages with @pour_atlanta
Celebrating these milestones, we’re reminded to cherish the now and make every moment a memory.
Every day is a gift. That’s why they call it the “present.” So let’s continue to open these gifts and share together over the next few months as we sip & savor together! Cheers! Pour on.
